Message from Fr. Tom Luczak

To the great surprise of everyone in attendance at the taping of the ABC News “Conversation on Immigration,” an opportunity was given to witness a historical moment — a live telecast with Pope Francis.  The telecast featured the live presence of the Holy Father at three sites in the US: Cristo Rey Catholic High School in Chicago, people who live in homeless shelters in Los Angeles and immigrants who recently have been at the Humanitarian Respite Center in our parish hall.  Pope Francis praised our community for working together to offer assistance to people in so much need.

Our parish was truly blessed!  Fr. Tom, Bishop Flores, and Mayor Darling spoke before the taping recognizing the volunteers, the parish and other nonprofit groups, government agencies including the City of McAllen for working together to address the needs of the 23,000 immigrants who have been at the hall.
